Unfortunately Emmett has been delisted with Odin rookie contract extended and Nobel being dropped from the main list to a promised rookie list.

That leaves 5 picks on the main list.

At this stage that means 3 will be picked up in the draft , with 2 More being SSP or delisted free agents.

Have to say that's a bit of a shock, I can think of one forward on the list I would have behind Emmett, I can't recall us ever delisting someone after two years with the calibre of Emmett, who was great on debut last year for two games, and good in gather round this year. Toughest gig in footy HHF. A graveyard for careers obviously. I didn't ever see any deficit in his effort either, I could list plenty in front of him. And no rookie offer. That is a real slap in the face.

Delisting Knobel to re-list absolutely fraught with danger from where I sit. He will be snavelled. Wouldn't even be surprised to see the screaming fowl do it.

Emmett was a bit disappointing in the majority afl games this year. His effort is not questioned but his finishing kick be in front of goals or the last kick to a forward was below par. His 4 possession game against Essendon was also particularly poor.


Was non existent in peels grand finals game.

I think with Shai joining the team, Cooper Simpson who plays similar role is probably favoured to get more opportunities next year.


Plus with potentially Carroll and or narkle joining the main list he was considered the more expendable.

Tough call as he certainly gave a 100pc !

I share the same fears as Block, delisting Knobel to the rookie list is fraught with danger and I can very easily see other clubs swooping on him after we've put a couple of years into his development. I don't really see the point of doing so unless we have some excellent free agent joining us and there are none there to pick up. Bizarre decision.

Disappointing for Emmett but it was inevitable. If we want to be a premiership team we have to build a list that is very deep. Emmett joins Matt Taberner, Ethan Hughes, Josh Corbett, Ethan Stanley, Sebit Kuek and Conrad Williams in being let go. We’ve had Shai come in and another 3 in the upcoming draft. The fact we’ve had to let Knoble go and attempt to move to the rookie list must mean he was axed to make a fourth spot on the primary list to get the three in. So we should have another two rookie spots after Knoble. Knarkle (port) and Carroll (Carlton) look like they will be pursued as rookies.
Emmett will be about the sixth in line small to medium forward and I agree Simpson is likely to go past him this coming year.
It’s a brutal time of year, Delean, Worner and Wagner will be under pressure at the end of next year should they not elevate their game to another level.

Would be disappointing for Emmett after everything he’s been through, but I guess the club needs to be ruthless in their pursuit of success. I feel like Emmett gave his all, and it probably isn’t quite good enough. He came in fairly mature and I’m not sure we saw any improvement over the two years on the list. He is very one-paced (not a fast pace unfortunately) and had questionable decision making. Being able to tackle and kick straight are great, but not if you’re too slow to catch players and don’t get the ball.
There are younger players who will leapfrog him, and those asking why Narkle replaces him…..I would assume speed? Other skills can be taught and trained but top speed can only be improved very marginally.

I think some people have over estimated Emmett's ability. I appreciate his effort but there were many times in games he was invisible.

Narkle is a definite upgrade on Emmett. Has played good footy at AFL level with the right amount of experience under his belt at quality AFL clubs. Having said that, he will struggle to get a game and will play most of his footy at Peel I think.

Emmett was a mature age recruit who has shown what he's got and you can't see upside in his game. I can fully understand the delisting.
