TOPIC: Where To Now?

Culley plays midfield right? In a really mediocre team. He was delisted for being a mediocre midfielder in a really mediocre team. So he'd be behind Brody, who is behind Erasmus, who is behind Johnson. I guess it doesn't really make sense to me. If he shaved his sideburns he may have a bit of upside?

Gaff though. His leadership...kicking skills...bone fide.

Culley would fit right in at Fremantle - running the tea rooms...

Or carrying the oranges I suppose. OK, I'll take that as considered and a big NO to Culley but I'm sure that there are others we could look at including Sebit Kuek who I thought was unlucky to be delisted considering his injury and the manner in which he returned in the WAFL which was quite good. He seemed to have added a bit of weight and contested well when used in the ruck at times. I was also impressed by a couple of Claremont talls in the Colts Grand Final, Aiden Riddle, 199cm, 92kg and Lucas Ravenhill, 199cm, 94kg who took some good grabs and kicked 3 goals from a long way out. With the delistings of Tabs, Corbett and Kuek our tall forward reserves are basically Voss and Jones who is still without a contract.

Would Denver Grainger-Barras be worth a shot on the rookie list. WA boy who went early in the draft 3 or 4 years ago. Key position defender who can swing forward as well I think.

I don’t watch a lot of Hawthorn games, so apologies if it is a silly suggestion.

Something that has me puzzled is the recruitment of Sam Naismith as our new ruck coach. Never really set the world on fire and not sure what he can teach Luke and Sean who always seemed to have the wood on him whenever they locked horns at AFL level. Has Sandi decided he's had enough of mentoring our big guys or been given a nudge out the door. I know Zac Strom is coaching the AFLW rucks but he must be doing something right with sister Mim, the way she is taking the competition by storm this season. Maybe he had something to offer our men's rucks. Not really sold on Naismith's credentials.

Gumnut, if you are looking at playing stats as the only guide of credentials, Naismith would be ahead of Zac Strom surely. Given one played at the highest level and one didn’t.

Don’t know what either would be like as an actual coach but I trust the club in getting it right.

Sandi ruck-coaching Luke Jackson: Have you tried being 12cm taller and 20kgs heavier?

From the Dockers website…

“Tom Emmett has been advised that he will not be offered a contract by the Club for 2025, while Max Knobel will be delisted later this month with a commitment from the Club to be taken as a rookie selection in the Rookie Draft in November. In addition to these changes, Odin Jones has been offered a one-year contract extension on the rookie list.”

So that is all the decisions made on Freo players from 2024 I think.
