Seems like a hefty price to pay, but like all these trade moves, the value really only becomes apparent in hindsight. Win a flag in the next 5 years and it will be considered a masterstroke, fail to deliver and this will be where it all started to go wrong.

A few big concerns for me

1. WC now have upper hand on us in draft order (12 v 14), we had it if we stuck to 10 & 18 offer (11 v 12).

2. WC likely to get future 1st for Barrass giving them upper hand if a bidding war for Warner.

3. We haven’t taken a first rounder for 2 years, one this year and then probably give another 2 years if we get Warner. Then Tassie will take everyone for 2 years. Club is going all in with nothing left in the bank.

If we don’t get ultimate success in the next few years, get ready for a WC like drop off in 5-6 years.

Agreed Bozza, and I think it will be live traded on draft night for a 2025 first rounder. If Bo Allan goes before our selection I think we’ll dangle pick 14 to clubs that are keen to secure a specific player that is still available. Assuming of course that we think that club will finish lower than us in 2025.
