I went along to watch the GF - the only WAFL match I’ve been to this season - and support Peel, interested in seeing how the current and ex-Docker players would go. Well done Peel. That was a great game against really tough, hardworking opposition. I was impressed by Erasmus, he’s just too good for WAFL level footy and, if he doesn’t become a regular in the Freo team next season, I can’t see how the club can hang on to him. O’Driscoll also, although he does have a habit turning the ball over a bit too often still, but his long-range kicking is brilliant.. Voss was good all game, he knows how to kick goals. Cooper Simpson seemed to drift in and out of the game, but still gets a couple of goals. The rest of the Freo squad (and I know there are plenty of Will Brodie supporters among Dockerlanders) involved showed why they can’t get a regular game or just aren’t considered for the first team, but it must be frustrating for them to know that they’re the best in the WAFL.
A couple of observations - it was disappointing that the Shouty Blokes were there, even louder than ever. Why??? Also, it’s clearly an advantage in WAFL finals footy to have two third of your team made up of professional footy players - the last few minutes really showed the difference this can make.
