This is worrying me, he's a Freo boy through and through and showed in his 2 games back from injury and WAFL finals form how good he is. Should be in our best 22 ahead of Johnson and some of the old timers including Nat Fyfe and a far better investment than Liam Baker or Jack Martin.

The lad can play, and fills a position of need, but he's averaged 8 games a year the past three years. So the question is, how long a deal are you prepared to offer him?

I can see why Freo might ask him to sign a one-year extension to demonstrate he can stay on the park, before offering a longer-term deal. I can see why his agent would want a longer-term deal.

We’ve seen what happens when you put complex contract triggers in contracts, so I reckon it’s exactly the type of deal that can take a while.

I think it's pretty hard to judge him on this year's injury problems. He was all set for a good season, then had an op on his knee and then missed a long period due to an infection in that knee from the op. None of this his fault and when he did come back to WAFL hit the ground running and hasn't played a bad game. As far as the kicking goes, that will improve with more match time and surely has to be kept on when compared to Fyfe, who can't even kick the ball. And in the WAFL Prelim Final played as an inside mid so could definitely replace Fyfe or Johnson whose poor kicking has been a lowlight of the past season for him.

DOCKER SET FOR DEAL

FREMANTLE youngster Nathan O'Driscoll will remain at the Dockers on a new contract.

The midfielder has been without a deal for next year however he is close to signing a new two-year extension with the club through to the end of 2026.

O'Driscoll, who joined the Dockers at the 2021 AFL Draft, played the final two games of the 2024 season, with a promising 20-disposal and one-goal effort against Port Adelaide in the final round.
