When I joined Freo in 1995 I had hair like Jimmy Hendrix and listened to Chris Isaak and particular his song "Somebody's Crying". Now August 2024 I am grey and bald and some bloke called Snoop Dog on the radio and I am buggered if i know what he is on about. After yesterday I started crying again had a few cleansing ales cold shower then sucked in a lung full off fresh air gathered in a bottle from the North Mole. I love this club and am excited for the future. I refer to Guy Smileys comments under the thread " Jlo,s Contract" and he hits the nail right on the bloody head! We have made a step forward in 2024 have no doubt. Stick by Jlo he is our man to take us to September glory. A few years back the Port Adelaide supporters were calling for Ken Hinkley's head they are now 2nd on the ladder!!!!

Get on board for our dear 30-year 104-year-old supporter Lilian and get her and us a cup.

Also did I see Simmo in the Hallways of Cockburn ??

Mundy is happy with JLO, Graham and says Corey is a wizard. Made me feel better.

Oh and at this stage happy to keep Fyfe and Walters to pass on their knowledge and hopefully some players step up and take their places throughout the year.

Teasea, I’m happy with them to pass on their knowledge, but from the sidelines please. If we are going to go forward next year and go deep into the finals, we need every player pulling their weight. Walters is so slow I could beat him in a foot race and Fyfe doesn’t chase (Horne-Francis run off him a number of times yesterday)

We have some great young players on our list, let’s play them.

Snoop Dog was already a music icon in the 90s

Right now Sonny Walters is keeping Jack Delean, Cooper Simpson and Tom Emmett out of the team. These guys are all talented young players and Simpson has inherited the famed number 29 guernsey and received glowing reports of his potential by many respected people at the club. It could be argued that their development has gone backwards as in recent weeks Simpson's output in the WAFL has been less than 10 touches a game and Delean is now playing WAFL reserves for Peel after some very promising performances at League level earlier in the season. I remember Dave Mundy at one stage saying that he would not continue playing when he felt he was taking the spot of a young up and coming player even though he was still one of the best midfielders in the comp. I hope Sonny doesn't make the mistake of putting himself ahead of the club or young players' development.

Absolutely smack on , Gumnut.

What is the point of drafting talent?.

We are talkijg about giving up the kitchen sink for Bolton, and yet we'll still carry Mikey??

Cooper Simpson actually showed "zip & class" in the couple of games he played, and he was rewarded by being sent back to Peel for the rest of the year.

To entertain the notion of having Mikey Omeara & Fyfe in the same team, for another year, is just silly., All are significantly slow.

I'd keep Fyfe, he can still play a role. Omeara obciously has some role/place in the team, that I cannot see (although in the search for our best players on sunday, i landed on Omeara...)

Bu5, for Mikey, its time.

I think they would like to have given Simpson more opportunities but he really didn't do anything at Peel to deserve it.

That's true Corp, but at 34 the best thing Sonny does is supply encouragement for our young indigenous players and generally sets a great role model for all the young players at the club. And as a Starlight Foundation rep, the kids love him! He is a legend of our club, and rightly so but surely he can be all these things in some way but not take up a spot on field each week. Cooper Simpson, Jack Delean and Tom Emmett are the future of our club though and in Simpson and Emmett's case they have been dropped in favour of Sonny whenever he is fit. To be fair you do have to earn your spot but it has to said that some of our veterans have occupied spots in our first 23 while younger and quicker players have wallowed in the WAFL. As we've seen with Liam Reidy, he is capable but he has been denied a spot and the opportunity to gain valuable experience when we had a chance to play him earlier in the season when Darcy was inured and then when he did play in vitally important games in the last 2 weeks he was shown up by his lack of experience, not a willingness to compete or talent. Even he had Tabs and his zimmerframe preferred to him. That was our biggest step back in selection problems this season.
