Lose 4 in a row to blow chances of finals after being a top 4 contender. What changes can be made to improve squad? For mine Fyfe and Walters have got to go, possibly JOM too. Get Bolton in at all costs. Warner would be invaluable. More speed through the middle desperately needed. Love the look of Reidy in the ruck so Darcy can be worth some trade value now. He can’t stay on the park. Big mistake imo signing him for so much and so long. Look at Meek dominating. Tough decisions need to be made to move forward.

Number 1, I hope Sonny Walters makes the move to retire in the off season and not be pushed when we bring Shai Bolton across from Richmond. The 2 opportunities which he was gifted, tough though they were, in the last quarter would have been goals when Sonny was in his prime however he was just too slow and indecisive in a moment that could have turned the game and sent us to the finals. I saw Shai Bolton in action when we played Richmond earlier in the season and I believe if he had been given those opportunities he would have goaled both times. In hindsight, after seeing Dusty and Tom Hawkins get emotional farewells I wish Sonny had retired on the same weekend so he could have been given a fitting sendoff as well today. Nat Fyfe is a bit of a different case and I think he still has a lot to offer in some form next season and it's a case of see you later Tabs.
Darcy is still one of the best rucks in the comp when fit and if he gets appropriate surgery in the off season could return to his number 1 role at the club assisted by Jackson. Reidy must stay as his substitute when he is not available.

Time to retire Walters and Fyfe, O’Meara needs to see out his time at Peel.

When you look at the list, it's hard to see who goes. Tabs and Ethan Hughes are older and seem to be out the picture, so they seem the most likely. One or both of Fyfe and Walters may retire. Brodie and Erasmus don't get much opportunity, despite clearly being talented - I'd imagine they'd keep Ras, but maybe dump Brodie. Either of them might be offered in a trade - Ras to Richmond to get Bolton here? Could appeal to both teams. Then it's youngsters who've been here a couple of years without breaking through - Conrad Williams and Ethan Stanley? Kuek and Corbett? Would be rough, given their injuries, but could be concerns about their ability to get back? It's going to be tough on whoever gets cut, but I guess it's nice to be looking at list that's not full of deadwood and cloggers.

Question 1 —- can I see the player making a meaningful contribution (even if as a role player or a point on the future) on grand final day?

Question 2 —- are they coverage for a key position or position we have limited stocks in?

If it’s no to both … get rid of them.

Here’s my guess Chilli, for what it’s worth, I probably only ever get about 40% right. I will also add that I have no idea of contract status’s.

Delist
Hughes
Corbett
Taberner
Williams
Stanley

Retire
Fyfe
Walters

Trade (they’ll probably request it)
Erasmus
Brodie

Unsure / Concerned
Sturt (hasn’t signed yet, may want out)
Aish (has fallen behind a few now)
Knobel (we have a few fuck forward options)
Worner (just doesn’t look to have it)
Kuek (hope he gets another chance)

Knobel seems to be in an interesting position.

That is a bit rough on Corbett. He was actually playing ok before he got injured.

I think there are questions about Johnsons ability to take the step to high pressure finals footy. He looked like a rabbit in the headlights for much of the game on Sunday.

I put forward purely my opinion, don’t get too concerned, I doubt I’ll get much of it right. But here’s a few more thoughts on some.
Hughes - I’ve never been a huge fan. Can’t fault his effort, he just makes silly mistakes with the ball or with decision making.

Magoo - nice guys finish last unfortunately. Ruthless calls need to be made sometimes.

Knobel - he’s played a lot of ressies for Peel so I don’t know if he will make it.

Corbett - had hip issues before he did his knee (I think), so he’s probably never been 100% while he’s been with us. We now have quite a few key forward option so I think Tabs plus another will go. Some of the others can also play ruck so that might give them the edge.

Fyfe - I love the man, I have a framed & signed dual Brownlow picture on my wall, but he’s just not the player he was, probably not even 50% of what he was. JHF ran off him and away from him too often and too easily on the weekend and he’s now becoming a bit of a liability at times. Give Ras a crack.

Fyfe, O'Meara and Ports pick for Petracca as long as Melbourne covers half his salary.
