TOPIC: Freo v Port

Good news from the Adelaide Showdown tonight, key Port defender Dan Houston could be in trouble for a shirtfront he delivered on Izak Rankine. Rankine concussed and driven off field on a stretcher. Fox Footy scribes saying season ending, anything up to 8 weeks which would mean all of Finals and a few weeks into next season when he resumes his career in Victoria

The really really good bloke defense has already been rolled out for him, he will probably be wearing number 007 next week.

There's really no way out for him on this one Matt, his shoulder made contact with Rankine's head and then it bounced off the turf 2 or 3 times when it hit the ground. I think Kenny knows it and his defence of Houston probably understandable. A little different to the Charlie Cameron defence that got him off a suspension. H's gone until at least Round 1 next year
Definitely a case for a send off rule though as Rankine was Adelaide's best player at the time and Adelaide were in front while Houston went on to help Port knock them off in the run home

Gumnut, we don't need a send off rule. (unless it is applied to the lawyers and MRP) We just need a tribunal who dishes out consistent and applicable penalties, every time, if every coach knew his player was going to get 4-6 weeks for head high contact, the players would soon be told not to roll the MRP dice.

Gee, Geelong ran out of puff. Must have been a lack of business class seating arrangements on the way back from Perth?

So we're going to need to win our game against Port and one of Hawks (v Norf), Bulldogs (v Giants) or Carlton (v Deaf Cheats) to lose to scrape into an away final. FFS.

The big game, I think, is GWS v Bulldogs. GWS win, we win and the we're in and Bullies are out. What's GWS' Melbourne form like?? The other possible is St Kida beating Carlton. The other possible favourable result won't happen. North Melbourne will not beat Hawthorn but GWS and St Kilda are definite chances.

Where we were before the Essendon game we were looking quite safe. After that capitulation against them we look done.

The whole season we’ve looked like we can beat anyone and lose to anyone. We start slowly and look like world beaters in the second and third quarters. Then try and hang on in the last. I don’t know how many last quarters we won this season but I’d think we-lost a lot more than we won.

We are where we are because of our inability to win games. We should be in a position where we have our own destiny in our own hands not hoping other results go our way.

Saying that I hope we win next week but I won’t be holding my breath.

It's sad when you have to hope other teams win when you had 3 chances to get 4 points after leading and blew them all.

Giants v Bulldogs is mutually beneficial, if Freo & GWS both win, Freo scrape into the top 8 and GWS finish 2nd.

Now we have to barrack for the team that just beat us.

Stuff that, book your September holiday anyway because the season's only going to last one more week even if they do scrape in.

When we don’t play Aish, Brodie , Reidy and Driz we are our own worse enemy. We are kidding ourselves if we think we can beat Port and crawl into the top eight. Our selection peeps need to go as does our “I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feeling's” coach who needs a rocket up the proverbials.
Supporters deserve better as do the players. JL gornsky.

We all know what's going to happen so why watch? We all knew it deep down inside from when it was all set up for Freo to go top two by beating Essendon.

Dons will thump Brisbane by 100pts
GWS will easily beat the dogs.
Saints to smash Blues
Hell even Norf will upset Hawks, by a point....
Not only that, all the teams that do make the eight will suffer catastrophic injuries that seriosly derails their Premiership tilts.
And then Freo will not even turn up.

2004 all over again.
