Bolton has a second kid on the way and reportedly some of he and his partners support structure has gone back to WA making it a very tough task. With things changing in their personal life, I can see it as reasonable to request to go home.
However, Richmond's demands are not at all in line with what we should be willing to give up for Bolton. Bolton would improve our side but the costs need to be factored in. His trade price is far too high too meet and his salary is way off the books for the output he'd provide to our side. While Bolton may desire to head back to WA and to us, that does not mean we have to meet whatever Richmond's demands are.
For any deal to get across, it would have to be limited at 1 first round pick (probably Port's around pick 10-12) plus something lesser like our Saints 2nd rounder (about pick 23-25) or our future 2nd rounder. Richmond wouldn't like that but I'm not sure what benefit they get out of retaining a player who does not want to be there, has a good reason to leave and doesn't help them rebuilding.
Freo doesn't need Bolton or to do any deal (the OOFTIT's can't match that deal) and this is reportedly being driven by the player. We have bigger fish to fry in the Chad Warner trade either this or next season.
