There's been a lot of bands thrown around this place recently. None of you, none you went Quit Riot.

Hah. Humiliated by the mob who provide entertainment solutions at Freo. How's it feel?

I initially had them as Twisted Sister. Least I spelt them correctly.

I did not know of a band called Quite Riot. Ever.

People get hooked up on the wrong things when they start on knocking the 80s. Sure, there were some terrible things carried out in the name of culture and music, a lot of it involving big hair and or shoulder pads. But there was so much good stuff getting dropped, you just had to know where to look to see it.

Back to that in a sec... I started watching the game here last night. It started at 10pm, my time. I'm nearly through my second bash with the Covids so I'm pretty partial to bed time when it rolls around and the pre game noise... are you all now immune to the yelling from the clown on the PA? Then the LED boundary fence... I'd forgotten those damned things. I started to get twitchy. Strepsil didn't calm me down. Every Ooftit goal was followed by a cupped hand around an ear and a shushing motion. My twitchiness became a trigger finger thing and I got to fantasising about the sniper rifle again... I watched a rained out P3 at Spa to calm down and crashed. To hell with strobes and Ooftits.

Anyway... back to music and the 80s. A decade that gave us REM, Hunters and Collectors and this absolute masterpiece. Don't lose focus...

There’s so many good, local, current bands, many linked to Fremantle (the place). Sweat, Last Quokka, Love Shovel etc. No excuse for listening to music that trigger the horrors of the Daddy Cool/ V Capri era. Even if the 1980s Talking Heads were pretty special. And Nick Cave always had the warm, reassuring personality that was a good fit for the hard, early years of FFC (1995-2023). But he probably supports Melbourne.

Don’t get too excited. All of Quiet Riots hits were Slade covers.

Slade did them a lot better

Put the music to the side for a sec, the travesty is Nannas continually winning dancing with the stars at half time by standing there waving a miniature flag or just waving at themselves as they appear on the big screen.

My kids even went retro a week early and pulled out the robot to Elephant on Saturday night and didn't even get a look in.

Can we get music from within the last 40 years?!
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.
