Its because of all the flashing lights and revolving advertising boards with sponsors the same colour as the jumpers..
Every half baked gambling company or hip brewery or law firm with a purple logo wants to sponsor Freo..
For some reason the colour ball they have used for over 150 years is now basically obsolete..

Ps - Have they turned up the volume to just above ridicilous level at the breaks?

I reckon WAFL, WAAFL and country leagues changed to a yellow footy mid to late 90s..
Prior to that is was always red.
Now its just AFL that play day games with a red footy.

I found an old brown Burley in the shed that dad had won as a football trophy. I took it to Jim Kidd's to get a new bladder put in it, polished up the leather and it was magnificent. First football of my own I ever had.

My brother pinched it, kicked it over the fence into the Fremantle Swimming Pool and left it there.

I hate him so much.

You may be showing your age there Hypen, my favourite was the Burley Sekem. I’m a post merger man.

I played country footy in three different leagues in the late 90’s to early 00’s and I’m pretty sure it was a red ball in all of those unless we played night games.
