His intention was to take the man, like Maynard v Brayshaw. He jumped high so that he could bare down on the unfortunate, given his poor record; his motive has to be questioned.
What could he have done? Shown some courage and intercept the ball before it got to Freddy and worn that potential contact.

No one ever learns anything in football because they see themselves as victims who at some point had a decision go against them that they didn't like.

It's not a judgment on character or intent, it's a consequence of an action. Not having consequences has resulted in the lives of ex-footballers being ruined from the damage to their brains.

as soon as your feet leave the ground it should be regarded reckless. be reckless all you want, just know that if you are late to the ball and anyone gets concussed you're getting four weeks. no mitigation, no nice guy defence.

Players are showing care with tackles now. They are not burying each other into the ground as much. The game has not suffered at all as a result of this.

But a year ago we had everyone saying that's its impossible not to sling them into the ground. When in reality it was proven to be very easy.

Coach them to affect a spoil without full body contact.

I must admit that on first viewing from side-on I thought Webster got a fist on the ball (or very close). The closest ump and the commentators also were side on and seemed to think the same.

Did he actually get the ball? I haven’t seen a good replay of that part.

The simplest rule should be to remove intent entirely. If you don’t get to the ball first and the bloke you hit gets a concussion, you get suspended.
