TOPIC: Chad Warner

I know I've asked this before Biz, but what do you think of Max Rohr from Claremont as a draft prospect? Played second fiddle to Kayle Gerreyn in game against WA Under 21s on weekend
Also Corey Tregenza from Peel, 21yo, 196cm, 94kg, always amongst the goals at Peel, kicked at least 2 goals a game every game so far this season and also helps out Liam Reidy in the ruck

Neither has done much to impress. When mature aged, you often need to be a large standout at WAFL level and not a role player. You should be in the conversation for one of the best players at that level to be considered for an AFL squad.

It says a lot about the current prospects of state based players that the main talk around who will be taken in the mid-season draft are recycled ex-AFL players who never showed much when on an AFL list.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

What about Max Rohr though? He's not mature age, he's in the WA State under 18s side this year.

Rohr is effectively a mature ager (although still young). He was draft eligible last season and is the only over ager (19yo) in the current WA U18 side. He is a year older than everyone else so should be dominating.

Thanks Biz, he does seem to be doing really well in WAFL reserves this season, maybe a Rookie chance at this year's draft?

Not really, I don't think he's on anyone's radar. The West Aussies in this year's draft are unlikely to receive a lot of attention without some incredible performances in the u18 championships.

Bo Allen is the best of them but is probably projecting around pick 20-30 by most experts as a utility option. Champion is a goal sneak who hasn't really set the world on fire and is looking around the 30-50 region (the OOFTIT's get him after pick 40 as he's an NGA kid). Gerryn is a mobile ruck/forward who's disposal can be a little iffy and is around the pick 40+ region at the moment.

The rest of the squad aren't really getting much attention and would be odds against being drafted. You can check out a little write up of their match against a WA u21 side on the weekend but the national championships don't start for a couple of weeks.

Interesting that we may get a look at Ed Allen this week when Collingwood come to play.

According to Twomey, Freo came close to nabbing Warner before as he considered coming back to WA.
He also mentioned we have a 5 year deal in front of Baker. Hope they are just trying get the Slime to pay overs.

No comparison between Warner and Baker

Warner is ridiculous. Absolutely tearing up this game V’s Bulldogs. He’s got pace, a super accurate kick, he just creates time (Pendlebury style) and he just took a big hang and kicked the goal (4.0 so far). Insane.
Give the Swans every pick we’re allowed to give them.
