Despite JLo saying it didn't affect the way they played, it felt like Cam's shadow was everywhere last night

I think we have to forgive them this one...like we forgave the loss when Pav released balloons pre-game with those poor parents who lost their Docker-loving children when MH17 was shot down... or the loss when Prince died and they played "Purple Rain" at half-time while the crowd waved their phones.

Does any other AFL outfit have his kind of history of playing in an atmosphere of deep reflection on how meaningless the footy actually is in the scheme of things?

Somehow it's very Freo, and I love the club for it.

I'm giving the boys a pass on this game. No matter what was said before or after game quite a few players were clearly affected by Cam's demise. Watched replay of game tonight and seeing Alex and Nat tear up before game had me shedding a few myself. The effort was clearly there but once we got the ball clear thinking seemed to be absent particularly Fyfe, took longer to dispose of the ball when caught and given no prior opportunity unlike some Sydney players. Disposal by foot was abysmal and not what we have come to expect from a dual Brownlow Medallist. Some players probably shouldn't have played but only the individual could probably tell if they were affected by the occasion or not. Our captain was resolute as ever and probably amongst best on ground making McDonald look like a novice.
