Sorry not to be talking about East Fremantle's grand final win for the ages.

North Melbourne have had a massive win too, though not as deserving as the other blue and whites.

They are getting pick 19 in this year's draft and pick 19 and 20 in next year's. Why? Cause they are not very good? It makes no sense. I thought there had to be reason beyond incompetence.

Give clubs an incentive to trade experienced players to North Melbourne who can help them now. A 25yo role player on 350k that might cost you pick 30, give the club a 50pc discount giving them pick 15. They'll trade.

They go to this years draft with 2, 14, 19 and whatever they get from McKay. It's too much.

There may be more to it, but from where I sit it looks like poor list management over a number of years as to why North Melbourne are crap. This really is rewarding them for their incompetence.
If you remember back to last season, the AFL gave them a second and third round pick that they needed to trade out to get experienced players in, and I think we got both of them for Logue and Tucker.
They were almost going broke a few years back and then went and paid Clarkson a massive amount to coach them so one would guess that the AFL are no doubt assisting with some money to keep them afloat.

If they stuff this up like they have done with everything else that has been done to help them over the last 30 years, what then? At what stage do you say that the club is a basket case, will always be under resourced due to its low membership and needs to go. The VFL/AFL had the guts to move Fitzroy and STH Melb, they should have done the same with Nth Melb.
