I hope Freo learn from this finals series.

There is no room for sitting back on your haunches with slow, high kicks up the line unless you are running the clock down with 5 minutes to go.

Slow footy is dead footy and kills your *ahem* field position.

You have to keep that ball moving. Clunk it = go. Intercept = go, go. If you fall over in a marking contest, you have to get up fast and go, go, go or dish the handpass quick-smart.

Acres has a footy brain and a massive tank/effort. Skills leave a litte to be desired, but every team needs a few players of this mold.

I'd rather not do anything with the reasoning "Lyon would have loved it". Not to say Acres wouldn't be a walk-up start in the current Freo side, but Lyon is not the reason.

Lyon also loved Dawson.

O'Driscoll can become better than Acres, and have the extra bit of sugar and spice that stands out in big moments.

yeah Mushy not sure our future is or was with Acres, just an observation on how he plays the game.

he seems to run from one goal square to the other about as much as he kicks it out on the full. which is a lot of times.

Acres was our best player last year in the finals loss to the Pies, and for mine was the best player for Carlton in their first final for donkeys years. He lifts side with effort. And I'm prepared to forgive him his occasional moonball entries into the F50. We got our penny-pinching badly BADLY wrong here.

The only good outcome from this was that we improved Henry's trade value through his absence :(. Certainly not this year's 3rd rounder tied to Carlton we get for him.
