Since before they were drafted there has been plenty of discussion about who would turn out to be the better player. Now that Rich has announced his retirement we can at least compare careers. There’s not much in it! Rich may be just slightly ahead with possessions and marks, but his longevity probably adds to his overall value. Both were beautiful kicks and both deserved to be high draft picks. Overall very happy to have had Hill with us but wouldn’t have been disappointed with Rich.

Couple of straight(er) kicks and Hill would have been a premiership player.

And in motion he was subjectively a 'better' player to watch. No-one comes close IMHO.

Hill's best was better, Rich wins points for longevity.

Has there been a better Freo player to miss AA selection than Stephan Hill? He was unlucky that he played in the era when AA selection consisted of midfielders being picked everywhere, without consideration for roles. Weren't many better wingmen going around in his era. Pre-injuries Daniel Wells was probably the only guy in his class.
