Regardless of how we see this re-appointment here at Dockerland I am truly puzzled by it. Simpson's success spiked over 3 years ago. Since then his record has plummeted and has been truly woeful with 2 consecutive wooden spoons. The guy is skating along on the one premiership which happened 5 years ago. Clarkson got sacked even though he had won four premierships. Mind you there may have been other issues. Admittedly Simpson has a personable nice guy image in the media.

The thing is dddocker they actually haven't even bottomed out yet. Next year their midfield and backline will be even more inexperienced. They've got 50 games or three seasons of pain. What do you do? Appoint an untried coach, a new coach won't survive.

I'd be getting Adam Yze, and telling Simpson he's handing over in two or three years.

Ron Alexander must (again) be wondering what he did wrong. Sacked after 11 wins and 11 losses in the first year of an expansion club. If he was at WC now he’d get a 20 year contract.

Two points:
1. They couldn't afford to pay him out and employ a new coach at high cost.
2. Justin Langer must have enormous influence on the board as he was the main supporter of Simpson.

The vote was unanimous. I think some people held their nose and voted to keep Simpson.
