The Victoria Police Sporting Integrity Intelligence Unit, in conjunction with the AFL, investigated the release of voting tallies which resulted in Victoria Police arresting four people over alleged illegal betting.

The AFL’s Brownlow Medal went under investigation thanks to suspicious betting activity on the 2022 count.

Is this possible without an umpire being involved?

Still no-one arrested (yet) for letting the 'winner' keep the medal.

More seriously, how are the Federal Police gonna have any time to get this done after India's T20 performance v England the other night? Someone got paid there, surely.

I just can't believe something like this could happen. I think the solution is to totally deregulate gambling. Anyone can do it, any age, anytime on anything. There's no crimes if no laws exist.

And more of those gambling adds please! And if you play 300 games you immediately qualify for ambassadorship of an online betting company.

I don't think you're going far enough.

I would like to see the government introduce mandatory gambling. If everyone is forced to place bet then it will incentivise information sharing, and everyone will be betting on a more even level.

Also, how much influence do you think Channel 7 have on the AFL's decision to allow these in the run gambling options. There were a lot of ads for betting on during the Brownlow this year.

It's all good and well getting mining companies to launder their image through your childrens charity but do you absolutely have to directly pedal death during the best and fairest award, and corrupt the entire league in the process?

Should the allegation of an AFL umpire, a person who may or may not have umpired many Carlton games through the season, making a bet on an outcome he/she has some control over prove true. Well I just don't know where to start with it. You'd be right to question everything.

According to an article published by SEN umpire Michael Pell was arrested today by Victorian Police as part of an investigation into a betting scandal on this year's Brownlow.

I've pretty much taken that former paragraph verbatim from the SEN article.

Pell was promoted to fill the opening when Dean Margetts retired.

You lot never let up on him but it turns out that Dean Margetts was the one holding the line for integrity in the AFL.

That says all you’d ever need to know about the concept of integrity and the AwFL’s take on it.
