Tucker just wants an AFL game each week. Not too much to ask.

With Tucker going that's the entire 2015 draft out the door.
(Including Bennel who we traded pick 22 for)
Blakely was the last from 2014.

I don’t get it.
We had the best season for years and they all want to leave.
Even if an argument can be put forward for each individual as to their reasons, I still see more reason to stay with club, full of young players, that looks, from the outside, to be on the rise to prolonged success at long last.

Something just ain’t right and it’s got me worried.

I blame Webber. After all these injury riddled years, we finally get rid of him and have essentially an injury free year such that all our fringe players couldn't get an AFL gig and so for some reason believe they can get one elsewhere, hence the defection.

They think that because the team has had a good year that their stocks have improved re draft worth. I think that short sighted approach speaks more about their inability to see a premiership than it does about the club’s desire for sustained success.

Not in my thinking - it must have something to do with pay deals. There doesn't appear to be any bad apples upsetting the team synergy so it has to be something else. I agree with FD - too many are wanting out, if they think North are better in the long term, something is seriously amiss.

While disconcerting to be losing so many, I think it can be broken down per player pretty easily:
Lobb, GF already living in Melbourne and entering final year of a front ended contract, wants money and a happy wife.

Tucker, GF already in Melbourne, couldn’t lock down a starting 22 role this year and Erasmus and Johnson will push past him this preseason, opportunity to play and happy wife.

Acres, both he and the club know his spot in the 22 will be under threat by the end of next year, our contract was incentive based so injury or form would see him earning a lot less, security and $$, plus GF is from Melbourne so could also be happy wife.

Logue, we lowballed him earlier in the year, leaving him to explore options, massive offer from North means he’d be stupid not to take it. Club handled this one badly and realised too late.

Meek, collateral damage from Jackson coming in, would be 3rd in the ruck division and seeking more AFL opportunity. If for any reason we don’t land Jackson, Meek will stay.

A decent post, Purple Kit... reasonable and well thought out. As always, The Big Picture suggests these are minor concerns and something larger and more rewarding is afoot.

I am reminded of course, as I'm sure everyone else is, of the Dutch psych rock outfit Yin Yin and their seminal work in this field, The Rabbit That Hunts Tigers...
