After the 21 GF,i thought yeh get him no matter what, but this year i have definitely not been impressed ,especially at a huge salary and the odd few draft picks.
The Kelly scenario comes to mind ,if WC get him using their picks ,and he does not deliver ,either way both clubs will feel dudded.

I think Logue is our Jackson... he's got more teeth and he wears his hair on the top of his head... Not sure what that means... keyboard comes up with some strange stuff this time of the day. But surely Logue is our man and LJ will be another TK stuffup for WC.

I must say Duffield is overboard with the possibility of LJ being 'stolen' by the WCE. The paper has 2 pages of this excitement. But as has been discussed WCE would have to split their pick 2 or just offer pick 2 outright for LJ. This surely would be a 'Kelly deal' back to the future situation for them. I wouldn't change our potential offer of pick 13 + next year's first round with us getting LJ + future 3rd or player.

The OOFTIT's are still required to use a first round draft pick this year so splitting the pick would not necessarily enable them to offer both picks for Jackson. They would still need special allowances from the AFL or to keep one first round pick and use other picks.

Pick 13 and a future first is more than enough for this deal. I can't see the OOFTIT's trumping it without throwing their whole rebuild to the wolves.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

All this future pick malarkey needs to be banned. Along with the salary dumping BS.

Clubs are paying with the uber platinum Amex card with no fee for the first 12 months then this time next year just pay that one off with the black Diners Club card, and it just goes on and on.

Mushroom, if trading future picks gets banned, Freo will be in trouble. We have been one of the best executors of future trading. We have been in a situation now for a few years that at the start of trade where we have very little draft picks for the coming draft and then hit the draft with a bounty of picks for the draft all from trading future picks.
I say keep it until other clubs jump on the band wagon.

Yep, Belly the master Mahjong tile plonker is also a good player at trade day futures too.

I don't care. It is stupid and an irreverent, outdated (and, dare I say it, white male) approach to things that gets you whatever you want right now by kicking the can down the road and leaving the future to random chance.

I don't like it.

It has been working for us.

The problem is the players keep leaving, even under a good man manager like Longmuir.

We're doing really well at gathering the picks required to get Jackson and Jeremy Sharp. So far we've lost Acres, Logue and Tucker and got future 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks to show for it. I hope our guys know what theyre doing as we only have Meek and Lobb to trade out now.

Apparently Fremantle’s pick 13 and future first-rounder won’t cut it for Luke Jackson says Demons list manager Tim Lamb...

Watching the LJ highlights reel - there is not a lot from 2022 to see? Seems to be all 2021. I too am wondering if we are getting a bit all Tim Kelly like about the hype. If we traded Lobb out I could understand us chasing him hard. Trade week all very confusing stuff.

Guys his size don't usually start to hit their peak until they're about 24. He'll only get better whilst Kelly was 25 I think from memory and hasn't shown anything like the form he displayed at Geelong since he joined the Weagles. He's still a handy player but not in Brayshaw or Serong class.

Exactly, look at Meek this year, dominating WAFL level and demanding AFL game time, when he arrived as a 20yo many thought he was Hannath V2.0.

Imagine how good Jackson will be in 2-3 years time.
