This might seem bleeding obvious but in the end the only stat that matters is how many points you have on the board at the final siren v the number of points the opposition has. If you can't score when you have the opportunity (generally inside the forward 50) to do so you don't win.

That is the key stat, indeed. And the associated efficiency inside 50: Cold Coast 56% to Freo 32%.
For all the over-handballing calls, Gold Coast still had more turnovers than Freo.

It was a game lost by poor forward presentation, poor forward delivery and poor decision making in the forward line. Impotent on forward thrusts. You simply can't go near on 3/4 of a game without scoring a goal.

Our forwards just weren’t up to it yesterday, but:
- I’m not sure how often we play in those type of wet conditions (especially our young guys like Frederick)
-Treacy is a 19 year old playing as a tall forward - the toughest position in the game.
- Lobb is not suited to wet weather footy
-We missed Switkowski and we continue to miss Tabs
- As much as Acres last game was a beaut, so many of his kicks yesterday were just high ball entries that were never going to be marked.

That doesn’t excuse how bad we were but it goes some way to explaining some of it.
