Reports are we rejected trading pick 21 to Hawthorn in return for pick 23 and their future first round pick (likely to be a top 10 pick given their chances of finals). We must rate Johnson incredibly highly, big wraps on the kid if that's true. I hope he lives up to the hype and shows why we grabbed him there.

Hawthorn were bidding specifically to grab Johnson, that's why they wanted to move up 2 spots in the order ahead of us (and in doing so give us their first rd pick next year).

I was happy to do it and grab Goater instead but North would have had Goater at 22 still. Of what was left, no one strikes me as anywhere near the level of those two but another top 10 pick next year is a huge thing to turn down (on top of getting someone else at 23).
