Just read in theWest that Jarrod Brander delisted by West Coast Eagles after failing to find new home in AFL trade period

"Fremantle football manager Peter Bell last week said the Dockers hadn’t ruled out giving Brander a lifeline in what would be a rare cross-town move."

Mark Duffield said in this article How position and opportunity shift could help discarded Eagle Jarrod Brander save AFL career

"It will be very surprising if Brander is not on an AFL list next year. It just needs to be a club where the holes are in attack, not the midfield."

Should we?

It's tempting to pick up a potentially useful, high-draft pick player for nothing. But on the other hand he would only be a potential third tall forward competing with Treacy and any other tall forward type we may draft in. There's no point getting Brander if we are going to just play him out of position again. So probably a no from me.

The Lithuanians are all in for it, "bg thmbs P!" *

*Too be fair they have been on the Pizz since Saturday Afternoon and only just stopped a couple hours ago to get ready for work. ( Practicing for All saints and all souls days coming up in two weeks time is serious business over there)

What's going on there? I thought he was a reasonably talented player. Who could play on a wing. He's quick.

The freo strategy is just have barely enough forward talls so that they don’t compete for spots and ensure that there is minimal recruitment of talls so that when tabs retires and Lobb leaves next season we have at most only one development forward on our list.

Is he going to be any worse than the 40+ ranked player on the list. We need depth especially in the forward line. We had no coverage for tall forwards last season. He might be useful purely for that purpose?

If he's willing to play on a moderate performance based salary and doesn't mind competing against our current crop of tall forward/ruck types I think he's worth a shot, even a rookie spot if there's one available, mind you if it got down to a choice between him and Eric Benning I'd go for Benning. The other thing to keep in mind is that despite recent recommitment to playing with Freo, Rory Lobb's future with us is not guaranteed beyond 2023 so we could need extra cover in this department.

What is it that some don't get? He's a Slimer and is now a was-a-Slimer. That's so straightforward - no grey area whatsoever. Two letters, one syllable: Enn Oh.

Interesting case
Clearly not on great terms with WCE.
Played out of position.
Did what they asked and tried other spots on the field.
Definite old school CHF (or even the Adelaide Tom Lynch role in his prime) marking link through middle of field.

His stats actually don’t look that bad for games he played

22 / 195cm / 92kgs

He’d have zero love for them and want to prove it (and them wrong) every derby.

I vote yes.
