So sick of AFL and Champion Data's bone ar$e laziness. Just e-mailed them to lift their game and add some new and improved measures of scoring efficiency
I50 efficiency is not a great measure and it is really easy to do a better, truer measure of the game. Apparently Freo were "way more efficient" Inside 50 at 26/49 53% vs Essendon's 21/47 45%. Really?
Clearly not the case. How about I50 accuracy? total points scored divided by maximum possible I50 return (a goal scored for every I50). Essesndon 68/282 at 24%, marginally better than Freo., 61/294 at 21%
And, while we are at it, how about Shot Accuracy: total points scored divided maximum possible shot return (a goal scored for every shot). Essendon 68/126 at 54% way ahead of Freo at 61/156 at 39%.
