Walters had a significant hamstring injury about eight weeks ago he's at the same level of fitness that all others were round one.

He's playing forward in a team that is stinking up the joint.

He ain't the problem.

A number of Dockerlanders (myself included) have previously made comment about Walters playing for frees (although that was not the case in todays game) and the fact that he is out of form, only to be shot down in flames.

I know we all have our favourites, but lets face facts, he is clearly out of form and has been all season. Yes, I get it that he was injured and it delayed his return to the team, but it still doesn't change the fact he is really out of form. I cannot fathom why some cannot see that and accept the observation simply for what it is, rather than turning him into someone who is sacrosanct.

I'm trying to tell you why he's not playing at the normal standard. I'm trying to stop you, when he gets his match fitness back and the forward line clicks saying, "gee Walters has turned it around happy to be proven wrong, he must read Dockerland".

I understand that. However, Tucker also had a significant hammy injury yet he was more serviceable than Walters today and this is only his second game back. Lobb is another one , he has only just returned from a significant knee injury and he was far more productive than Walters.

Its ok to say he is out of form.

I reckon he's carrying that knee injury through the season. But no excuses Mikey ya slacker, back to the magoos and ya gotta train by yourself - we dont want to see or hear from you, come back when you're good enough for a big media redemption story that we can drag out for years.

Maybe Walters is out of form - or just maybe he was just shut down by this year's AA small defender, Starcevich. That's a job that would have been easier because our other small forwards were not a real threat...

It does seem strange that we are able to query the form of most of our players yet we can't comment on Mikey. I know he has had an interrupted season due to injury, but he also had interruptions in at least the previous two seasons as well.
I think we notice it because he is normally so dangerous and easily our best small forward. Perhaps opposition are paying him more attention, but surely we all realise, for whatever the reasons, that he hasn't been playing to his normal high standards, and we want him back to those standards if he can. Same as would for any of our players actually.
Nothing wrong with that.

Everyone is agreeing that he's not playing to his best. They are arguing with you about the definition of the word form. I don't know why they are doing that.

Don’t forget he is about to turn 30 so don’t think he’ll ever be the Mickey of old. Maybe he needs a chat with Mundy!

Opponents are paying him more attention, that is obvious. But his "form" is suffering from the way that attention is paid. There is no justification for not paying him the 4 or so frees he would have got yesterday if he was any other player on the ground. A couple more goals as a result of those frees may change your opinion of his form.

Maybe our backmen could learn how to apply this attention that he gets in every game, at every venue, against all opposition, from all umpires, without getting penalised, against similar type of opponents. Might stop players like Charlie Cameron having eight shots on goal against us.

When I see a player go out with a hammy or knee or ankle I always double the time they are out in terms of playing good football again. I think Longmuir would throw Sonny on the ball if he could run more. Tucker is getting caught in situations that he would not normally get caught in. He'll be the Tucker we know by seasons end.

Without wanting to marginalise debates it annoys me that there is an assumption players can come back as good as they were from day dot. Its not how the game works.

So you're saying they should come back better? I don't know that I agree with that.
