TOPIC: Mid Year Draft

We don't really need another midfielder though. Tough? That would not be one of the words that comes to mind for me. Outside receiver I would have thought.

Jack Avery, Tyrone Thorne, and Matt Hammelmann for me. Thorne offers a lot but we have lots of small forwards who haven't even tapped into yet which is also the knocker on Schloite. No more midgets. Avery appeals as a good alternative to Duman and Watson but an unknown quantity as a goalkicking option.
The one that interests me is Hammelmann. He's tall at 198cm, has been exposed to the AFL system, mature at 25 and, according to that inner sanctum site, an elite field kick and shot at goal.
The other name that interests me is Kobe Farmer, though it seems that the club may have lost interest in the Son of Wiz of late.

Where or with who is SOW actually playing?

I'd like us to take a chance on Hammelmann too , we're screeming out for more scoring and we definitely have long term injury spots.

This is a boring answer, but I feel like at the fringes of our list we are already struggling to sort out who can play. Adding another player or two in the mix might end up being subtraction by addition.

I reckon Tyron Thorne is a jet, but he & Henry are going to be competing with Western for the same spot. Bringing him in mid season will see him not get opportunities unless our injury problems turn into a crisis. If we released a couple of mids at the end of the season, (Acres, Colyer, Crowden) there would be opportunities for all 3 next year.

Play Treacy, he adds a wild card factor to our setup.

I agree. Treacy was doing close to bugger all but he attracted defenders and our forward line was functioning better as a result. We still couldn't kick goals, but the points were sweeter.

Tyrone Thorne was less than impressive in the State game last weekend. Not sure why people are pushing his barrow. Wishful thinking I guess.

When Cerra moves back to Melbourne ( Essendon or Carlton) at the end of this year we will need another mid. Enter Logue.... another Bontipelli in the making and surplus in defense once Pearce, Hamling ,etc make it back. We can then concentrate on the availability of talented kids in the draft. Stephen Hill must be close to waving goodbye so Hunter can fill in that gap...... just sayin

IF Cerra went to Carlton would SPS and a first round pick be worthwhile compensation? I know Cerra is a lot better player than SPS but given a chance to play in the midfield SPS could blossom into a handy player contrary to where his flair is being stifled by Teague playing in defence. He is currently in the reserves and the additional first round pick would reflect Cerra's class and value as a top 10 pick who is ready to play his best football.
