TOPIC: Tagger

Serong was our go-to guy for sticking with an opposition player - I'm assuming he gave it a go when he went missing in the second half.

But the OOFTITS beat us in the midfield by having a wider circle at the stoppages - when the ball came out they could spread quicker while our guys were caught inside. It was simple and effective.

Well I've seen us use that tactic when caught up
In the defence arc and it was very effective.
But their ' circle ' just seemed 'bigger'.
Found more space and raced away.

Serong only spent 66% of time on ground so I dare say he was playing pretty sore. It was more than the sub Duman (51%) and much less than Chapman (80%) who was only held held together by tape.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

To stop Kelly, we could have simply belted him behind the head and concussed him out of play...

That was classic thuggery disguised as clumsiness, oh sorry I fell over your ankle.

It's lucky someone didn't trip over Chappy's arm when it came off.

The Fremantle doctors are top class and wouldn't let that sort of thing happen. They used flex tape. It was never coming off.

It may as well have - but I guess it would be too much like ice hockey if one of our players picked up Chapman's arm and started belting that bearded hillbilly JK with it.

If Cox hits Kennedy with Chapman's arm - who gets the suspension?

Yes, I know it's a media person sprouting off, but these were the comments that Tim Kelly said after the game. When a player is expressing his surprise at not being tagged you know it must be the norm. Let's face it, we have teams tagging Brayshaw just about every week.
If you have a top class midfield that rarely gets beaten I don't suppose you need one, but we don't.
I do realise that even if we had have cut Kelly out, Redden and Sheed were still on top, but if you go back to the Geelong v Slime game Kelly and had only 1 more disposal than his tagger in O'Connor who actually kicked a goal himself.
Still think there is role for a tagger, maybe not every week, but sometimes yes.
