TOPIC: ANZAC day

I’ve just finished listening to JL’s presser and am struck by how disappointed he was about the impact of the current lockdown on the Len Hall commemoration. Clearly it is something that the club has invested a great deal of effort into and it has significant meaning for a lot of people around WA. This was also referenced in during the game, including the expected contributions by a 102 year old vet.

I appreciate that this following may be too left field for some, but rather than waste all that planning, I certainly wouldn’t be upset if the club decided to give it another go at the next home game (subject to some understandable variations of participants aren’t available). Surely under the current circumstances it would be better to have something two weeks late than not at all. It wouldn’t be ANZAC Day but it could still have meaning.

Another possibility. If we held it in Rd 22, it would mark VP Day, which would parallel the first commemorative ceremony the club held, back in 1995 (it became the Len Hall Game the following year).

Guess who we'd be playing...

Don’t leave it too long. I’d like the 102 year old to have the opportunity to participate.

Hint: don't hold a press conference to announce absolutely nothing at the precise moment of the free-to-air ANZAC day footy game bounce.

Pfft..some VFL game. Who cares. It was much better tv seeing the hoons of Rockingham interrupting the press conference with shouts and revs of support.

Bit disappointed no one yelled Howzat! out of habit.

Thanks Shane. I’m not sure how the original post ended up with that clip but that’s made my day.

I’m wondering what the list of reasons was FOR using that presser location.
