I'm going to get this out of the way early this year...the AFL's disregard for Freo's Len Hall Game (which dates back to the same year as the first Essendon v Collingwood ANZAC Day game, though not in name until a year later) is one of the more egregious examples of the AFL’s fixturing callousness towards Freo (and interstate clubs generally).

The AFL had a perfectly good chance to set aside a standalone ANZAC Eve game, for example, and gifted it to Melbourne and Richmond instead, who already have marquee games on the calendar.

Even North Bloody Melbourne were finally (and rightfully) awarded Good Friday.

Go stick it up your jumper Gil.

North on Good Friday has everyone praying for a crucifixion - it's bloody awful football.

Danger game!
Complacency is what I dread. Three in a row is possible but not to be taken as certain. Freo must kick a**e from the start. North Melbourne has shown they are going to go hard. They have skill problems but they have some very good players (Cunnington and Goldstein for example). We must not take the result as a given.

This is a danger game for all of us. I recognize this fact sitting on my sofa watching Tenet for the twenty second time that I can't take the Kangas lightly this Saturday.

Kicking a**e is a metaphor for kicking goals!!

I don't care if it's North - the Len Hall game is always one of the best, every year (if not the best). We honour the ANZACs better than anyone.

And from the start we've done it genuinely, for all the right reasons, not chasing publicity for ourselves.

It's what I love about our club.

In recent years I've found myself in Melbourne for Anzac Day, looking forward to having one at home for a change and watching the boys fire up for the home crowd. If it can't be Anzac eve, then it should be the round opener or stand alone Friday night game. Aside from a packed MCG, there wouldn't be a better footy oval experience than a packed Optus Stadium.

The Len Hall game should be played on Anzac Day after Collingwood vs Essendon, it's as simple as that.

Even more so this year, it's a Sunday afternoon where Freo home games always get put and they don't schedule it there!

I can't complain about Saturday night, it's an awesome timeslot but it's not Anzac Day.

Ahh, I'm slow on the uptake. I just thought the AFL were being nice giving us a Saturday night fixture. I didn't realise that it was just a sop because they weren't giving us Anzac day.

Spot on Davo - They give us the Sunday graveyard shift most home games lately and when we actually want it - sorry - you can have Saturday Night so kids cant go to the dawn service the next morning.
Garlick and Alcock need to start to make a scene.
We have been getting screwed for too many years.
Im over it!!
Derby Blockbusters also need to be Friday or Saturday Nights.
Cant recall a Melb Blockbuster being played on a Sunday afternoon - ever!
Our member benefits are useless compared to Melb Teams..
