Don't let these hipsters get to you Coogee. If it wasn't for Scomo we wouldn't have so many tremendous things. Lots of people are saying it. Everybody knows.

clearly, sport and politics don’t mix. the PM should watch the game on the telly instead, not from a corporate box...

Scomo couldn't give a rat's about the Eagles, or any team from WA for that matter. It's no surprise he got a few boos, he would have got the same reception at one of our games.

He's only over here now to try and claw back a few votes for next year's election so it's not a wipe out.

Maybe leave kids out of it next time, Coogeespy. You weren't being noble nor apolitical. You were out of line.

Colleagues of mine that support interstate teams like going to Freo games because we are a friendly lot whose booing is restricted to the odd poor umpiring decision. Lets keep it that way. This story reminds me of my French cousins in the 80s debating how they would address Giscard d'estaing who briefly flirted with knocking on people doors for an impromptu tea and cake with his citizens. Some colourful suggestions later, my uncle drew himself up and broke his silence by reminding them that whatever they thought of the motives, the correct form of address was 'Monsieur le President'. I like to think there would be no such story had that been a Freo match, maybe some light friendly banter and a funny quip from Polly. However I do enjoy an unedifying tale of Eagles supporters being Eagles supporters: It's a beautiful morning isn't it? Enjoy your day everyone and go Freo!. Wey'll put up a gallant fight today.

You’ve got to understand that booing is a reflex action for Eagles followers, like sneezing. They see something, anything, and they boo it. I saw a nice young man in a Boy Scout uniform helping an elederly lady across a street the other day, and a bypasser wearing some blue and yellow concoction started booing them.
And it’s not just any old boo, the Eagle’s boo. It’s a high pitched, keening sound, like a convocation of Nazgul. I can hear it coming from the Barnettdome here in Bayswater.

In any case, I wouldn’t make anything of them booing Morrison. Eagles supporters all vote Liberal. Those of them capable of filling in a ballot paper anyway.
