B1R1 or, Hypen, is there such a word as "dehanced" as in " He has dehanced his reputation"?

Colonel we all have to deal with the eddies and flows of life. Although McGuires was more of a whirlpool.

Without wanting to sound like hypen, because he thinks I was saying a similar thing last week, I think this is rubbish.

It's important to have people with the patience and understanding to give the Eddie's of the world the benefit of the doubt as they ignorantly trample all over everything, and I wish Eddie all the best in becoming better at being Eddie, but the fact that it still has to be personally explained to Eddie, on multiple occasions, suggest he isn't suitably qualified for the job he was doing. Eddie isn't entitled to the job, he has to be good at it to keep it.

This was more than a stupid thing. He had a report in front of him telling him what not to do and he did that thing. He didn't understand the report he commissioned. So how much of the soft cap does he want them to spend on teaching Eddie to not be awful? And how many people should have to have their lives impacted while he learns on the job.

Well said Leon. Probably the clearest and most in-depth analysis of racism in sport in Australia, and from someone who lived through it. Why not create a job for Leon as a cultural advisor at AFL House, Gillon? He can do more good for sport in Australia than all the posturing puppets & journos put together.

He's a very quiet bloke, doesn't say much - but when he does, you listen. It's hard to hear these stories and sad to think they would even occur. But the worst part is understanding that they are carried across generations - that trying to protect and teach your children how to deal with racism is just part and parcel of modern Aboriginal life. I would like to think that there would come a time when a parent could point to a time and tell their child 'that was then'. We're not there yet, no where near that point - the nuances that comes from Leon speaking are far more damning than anything else.

It really is worth a read. Because he's the first, and probably only, bloke you think of when you thinking of the Aboriginal footballers from Collingwood. It cuts through all the revisionism, all the platitudes about doing the right thing.

It's unreal to think those things happened to him in that place at that time. I think those players should have been sacked. I don't know that they would be even if they did that today.

He is. Let's see how they go - governments, states, cities, towns and the AwFL haven't managed to put an end to it. Maybe the limited community of a footy club is the only place where it can start and work towards a conclusive ending. Everyone is watching.

You don't need to fix everything but if you have an environment where a kid is subjected to the worst nature of your employees in his own AFL footy locker, they were all on board with it happening.

And Leon Davis should get a pay out from the league. Something tangible needs to happen. This was appalling.

If there's one smart-arse that uses an inappropriate nickname, or leaves a joke survey on someone else's kit in the locker room, or makes anyone in the club uncomfortable with who they are, you put him/her in front of everyone in the club and kick them out - from under eights to country veterans footy. That's it, it all stops in here - if you hear it in the stands, you stand up and call it out. If it can be accomplished in one sport, it can be done everywhere.

Yes, Polly, because it is happening at every level from U 8's up to the AFL.

Andrew Krakouer says he will never forget the racial slur that cut him to his core in the Collingwood change rooms.

Standing in front of his locker at the club’s Holden Centre headquarters midway through the 2012 season, the star Magpies forward overheard three teammates sharing a brazen joke about Aboriginals..

Eddie is in a bad way because of consequences for his refusal to fix a problem he had responsibility for. Krakouer was just black.
