Why not extend until 2057 in line with AFL precedent?

Im assuming that as covid limited the number of people attending games, it increased tv viewers as they watched the game that way.

Anyway more money is good for the game and the players.

I got my $30 club merchandise voucher yesterday so everyone's a winner, some are just bigger winners than others.

The viewers are usually the loser. They got a taste of the rolling fixture ad money and I reckon they liked it.

Much easier to make money videoing the football instead of having to organise a new cooking, dating, singing or building things show.

Those at the top need to stop finding ways to spend the money and create a future crises fund, but they won't.

Crisis funds, thats what government hand outs are for.

Ride the gravy rain and drain it dry.

I get what you are saying Colonel but I’m not of the opinion that that getting market value for your product is greedy, but I do think the way the revenue is spent is a concern. No doubt Gill and his mates will top up their salaries with bonuses and clubs may get higher salary caps but as the AFL’s mission is to “actively support all levels of football from juniors to the elite level.” I’d like to see more of this money going to the clubs and leagues that run sausage sizzles to survive and still produce the players that supply the talent that keeps the AFL gravy train going, rather than those who are already earning high six and seven figure salaries.

Naturally, everyone is assuming Foxtel will survive the next couple of years. My bet is that it won't.

Eventually the AWFL will have their own viewing platform as pay per view.

So all the staff at all the clubs, may get their jobs back, now there is so much loot being thrown around.
Or will it get shuffled down to the junior cluibs that desperately want it.
I bet we don't hear much about staff levels this year.

Polly i hope you are wrong.
I don't think having or not having AFL will break Foxtel's back .
I have been a subscriber for many years ,there are a lot of fantastic programmes in there .
In total hours i watch footy comes way down the list,as much as i love being able to watch any game live ,the Dramas ,the Comedies, the list goes on,such a wide variety.

You might Frad, but obviously there are plenty who don't. This was in March and things have got considerably worse since then.

But then again, it is Murdoch, so there's a silver lining.

Thanks for the link's Corp.
Had not seen that info before, and yes it's disturbing
They have cut my subscription by a third ,so maybe it will get lower.
I also subscribe to .Netflix,Prime and Stan ,and Disney for the grandies.
So pretty well covered there.Being retired i do spend a lot of time on the streaming services and the Playstation.
The other streaming services are way cheaper but not such a huge range.
I watch lot of sport ,one of the reasons i originally got Foxtel.also at the time there was nothing to compare.
Covid is a huge reason viewers have turned off, also people have different priorities during the restrictions ,saving their dough.

So they cut your subscription by a third Fradonjan? Is that just to reduce revenue sufficiently to qualify for Jobkeeper?
