Einstein said the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion (I’ve said the same about a Freo Premiership in my lifetime); but putting aside issues of relativity there is a bit to like about the new membership slogan.

It stands in contrast to the messaging from the last few years that we’re a few years away, and it signals that 2021 is about winning games. It’s a brave slogan - it would have been easy to go with a slogan based the general feeling of excitement, unbound by time.

I know it’s a minor detail, but I also like the shipping container.

I really like the slogan and I am typically cynical of this garb too.

What it's saying to me is what the club had continuously fed you, well you can now expect it.

I'm very excited for the club, I think we are in great shape.

The marketing boys/girls may have got a little carried away with some of this stuff e.g. it's a bit rich to say that Alex Pearce is "an emerging senior player". Sure he has great potential and we all live in hope but you could best describe his recent form as non existent!

I think it's also reflective of the young kids like Caleb Serong's attitude that we're going places in a hurry. When we were just starting to win games this year and all the pundits had written us off our kids were still talking about playing finals up until that loss against Carlton and their attitude is fantastic in its positivity. It's not about a rebuild or in the next 3 seasons time. It's more about, bring it on and we'll be playing finals this year and the sky's the limit. I like where we're heading and the approach taken by all at the club. I'm looking forward to our return to the finals next season. Go Freo!!!!

Is it though?

I hope the future isn't us lamenting another bottom 8 finish in a years time. If the future really is here, it better get down to developing a new game plan, one that isn't bomb it long into the forward line and hope for the best.

On a side note, I'm so happy that when money is tight, that some or all of the cash raised from the forever Freo raffle has been spent on a new marketing campaign. Seems about right for us.

Ok, if the future is going to really be here, no more delayed telecasts of our away games in 2021 - that is essentially a rerun of the past. I'm all for it if we're past the past.
