TOPIC: AFL has a issue with commitment

Heard tonight that the AFL is not releasing fixtures until February and even then it may only be in 4 week blocks.

They loved the “festival of footy” and want one in 2021. Probably will introduce when Victoria goes into lockdown v.3

Also AFL can’t work out if they have feelings for Ms 20 min quarter or Ms 16 min. They’ll try their luck with Ms 18 minutes in 2021.

purple mao
Yet not even a once in a century pandemic can budge the AFL from its ‘blockbuster’ season opener of Richmond v Carlton. So underwhelming.

It's not so much that the AFL is unable to commit to something, it's more a case they don't want any commitments.

The biggest problem with the AFL is their insane predeliction for employing ex-Victorian footballers even when they don't yet have a reason for employing them. Brad Scott, I'm looking at you. Scotty got picked up after the basket case that is Norfs could no longer put up with him. There he was with a lucrative AFL contract when the AFL itself didn't know what role he was going to play.

(Don't do this at your work, kids or you'll be spending many hours being questioned by the cops, then the lawyers and then the judge)

The result is there are all these underemployed ex players wandering around AFL House trying to find something to make themselves relevant. Burn the place to the ground, you'll save a fortune and prevent even more changes being implemented just because they have people who need something to do.

Maybe they just want to see which Victorian team looks most likely to be in premiership contention. That way they know who to give the easy run home to later in the season.
