Think they smoked grass before coming up with that idea.
Not sure what they took before the idea to have someone sing in an empty MCG but it encourages self importance.

Here's my ideas why don't they
(i) take a bit of turf from all the stadiums that AFL games have been played on and plant squares of it across the MCG.
(ii) 10 AFL Teams, two each from WA, SA, NSW, VIC, one each from the NT and TAS you know it makes sense

Shane were is that sarcastica font

AFL executive committee; "Lets take some grass to the GABBA for the Grand Final"\

Gillon; "Good Idea I'm right onto it. Don't worry about a thing, I got this."

AFL executive committee on Grand Final day; "Gillon, WTF???"

If they had any bloody foresight, they would've taken a bag of MCG grass seeds with them and sown them when they got up there. They've only been up there for 6 months.

I'm just waiting to see the stories of the Turf breaching social distancing laws and breaking quarantine while getting caught out on the Gold coast near a kebab shop after a night out at a "seedy" joint looking to get laid

It keeps on giving.
The turf is not laid on the field of play but outside of it, near a half forward flank.
Seriously.

It will die - no way will that chunk of grass 'take' in a couple of days, then it will be forgotten and no one will water it over summer.

That's a metaphor I can live with.
