Grundy was not as good at 22. He just wasn't. When he learns to time his leap and use his body a bit better he will be the next Grundy.

To quote Mission Man about twenty years ago speaking to a young Aaron Sandilands critic, "lets have this conversation in another 100 games time!"

It's a weird premise. As if the recruiters were kicking around whether or not to target a ruckman and left their folder lying around the social media people.

Depending on the way the game goes (i.e. is manipulated for entertainment and commercial purposes) Darcy is going to be a +10 year player for us and potentially AA (again tied to the direction the game is sent). If the powers that be continue to want to speed up the game and prioritise 'entertainment' value his impact will be dulled.

While he may never be the 'athlete' that some big men are, he's a footballers footballer the big fella. He will continue to improve both his strength and fitness with more injury free preseasons which will allow him to improve both his around the ground contribution and stoppage work.

The one thing that I don't think he gets enough credit for is his marking/contest work where he is clearly improving and has started to clunk a few marks in contests as well as clearing a few packs, I think people underestimate how hard he is to 'shift' and conversely how easy he moves people out of his way in a contest. He's the kinda bloke you'd love to play with.

He reminds me of a big soft teddy bear who is built on a stainless steel frame (bit like the terminator of arnie fame)

Apparently he's already #2 for hit outs in the history of Freo?

So, I looked it up myself, Hodor is 2nd for average hit outs on 27.67 behind Sandy on 31.37.
He is only 5th for total hit outs, behind Sandy, Clarke, Griffin and Burton.
Yes, Zac Clarke sits second for total hit outs.

Zac Clarke. I honestly thought he’d be the next Paddy Ryder.

Turns out Paddy Ryder is still the best Paddy Ryder.

It does give him a significant advantage in Paddy Ryderiness.
