I think Logue has a lot of upside but he's been on our list for three years now and played 28 games and really it was only this year that he played two or three games that made you sit up and take notice.
So I agree with Biz in some respects. I don't know about all of those on that list but at this stage in their careers there are plenty there that have gone past him.
Cox has also done just as well or if not better than Logue since being put into defence, so if we had a fully fit backline next year, what six would you have out of? Hamling, Pearce, Ryan, Wilson, Hughes, Conca, Logue, Duman, Cox, Hill.
Lots of players have potential, and Logue certainly seems to, but we really need to see him have a decent crack at it without always being injured.

Mundy, at 25 games was seen as tradeable and maybe not the best pick of that years draft by a lot of footy experts, I'm prepared to give Logue another year or two.

Mundy at 25 games had just finished third in the rising star and won the beacon award. He was always considered one of our best players and the only question some people had was whether he could make it as a midfielder or remain across half back. He clearly could be a good midfielder but needed time and most people were happy to let him have it, myself included. He was a natural footballer.

Considering how much you love Tabs Raglan, you should be right behind Cox. He had better or comparable stats than Tabs over the couple years they shared the forwardline and Cox was 5 years his junior. He won a rising star nomination and spent time at both ends of the ground doing a good job. It's about as well as an 18/19 year old has played as a KPF in the last decade or two.

In regards to Will Brodie, he's copped a lot of injuries too but a 190cm inside midifelder is hugely valuable. Not only that but he was dominant last year for gold coast, averaging 22 touches a game between hamstring strains while also gathering just under 6 tackles a game and 5 clearances a game from less than 80% game time. The injuries haven't helped him along with Greenwood and Anderson coming in to play that inside role but he really impressed me last year He should really be playing more this season and it baffles me that he isn't when fit but he'll get a go soon enough to add to his 20 games.

Back on topic though, the below West Aussies have been invited to test at the combine as part of 94 around the country. I dare say it'd be tough to get drafted outside of these 94 given how little football there's been this season to prove yourself and the expected shrinking of list sizes and draft selections.

Western Australia (Wednesday, September 30)
Blake Morris (Subiaco)
Brandon Walker (East Fremantle) - Freo NGA
Denver Grainger-Barras (Swan Districts)
Heath Chapman (West Perth)
Jack Carroll (East Fremantle)
Joel Western (Claremont) - Freo NGA
Kalin Lane (Claremont)
Logan McDonald (Perth)
Nathan O'Driscoll (Perth)
Shannon Neale (South Fremantle)
Zane Trew (Swan Districts)
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

11 out of 94. Is that disproportionate or about normal for other years?

I don't have exact stats but 94 seems like a really high number for the combine. I get the impression they raised the number of invites as there's been no games to judge a lot of the talent this year. The result is far more Vic's invited who haven't played a game and need to be tested.

For the WA contingent a dozen or so is about the norm, sometimes less and sometimes more. They'd have a better idea of what the WA and SA kids are capable of given they've played some footy this year so less reason to invite those outside of the top 50 or so.

I did a bit of research and found they had about 70 at the initial combine last year so they've stepped it up this year. I assume they're still doing state testing on top of that for players who didn't get an invite or are older.

Differing to Twomey's 'form guide' which I find lacks a bit of a description of players and their abilities, Chris Doerre has named his top 20 at present which is more in line with the way I'd be leaning for the most part. It gives you a good look at the strengths and weaknesses of each player and why they're moving up or down his rankings.

Will Brodie also grew up as one of the few Fremantle supporters in Victoria - a purple kid through and through. For what it's worth.

Riley Thilthorpe is the one I keep coming back to every time I overlook DGB. at 200cm and 99kg he is a bit of a monster, plays key forward and pinch hits in the ruck, just the type we're on record as wanting. Also good at ground level, quick and playing with big boys in the SANFL. If he slides to our pick I wouldn't be surprised if we pick him especially if Logan McDonald is gone and we can tie up Joel Western.

I can't agree with you on Will Brodie.. He is not getting a game.. Sure he might look good on the stat sheet but he is obviously doing something wrong.. Is probably comparable to our own Connor Blakely.. If he was really a good player he would be getting a game.. High picks usually get better opportunities than lower picks too.

Gold Coast are all high picks, they just added pick 1 and 2 to their midfield which already boasted plenty of high picks. They want to pair those kids with some older wiser heads and Greenwood, Swallow and Miller are those inside players that help settle and direct play. Brodie has to bide his time and hammer the door down which is difficult when there's no reserve footy.

I wouldn't compare Brodie to Blakely either, Brodie can kick and doesn't get as flustered when he gets the footy. They're different sorts of inside midfielder.

Tilthorpe is an interesting one. I watched him a bit last year in the academy games and he looked like a monster. Has some good speed and skills so I wouldn't be unhappy grabbing him. Adelaide could favour the home grown talent though, especially if they somehow manage another 1st round compensation pick for Brad Crouch leaving as a free agent.

Brodie will get traded back to Melbourne for a pick in the 50's or 60's

You’d imagine that Thilthorpe being from Adelaide would be on top of the Crows list, especially with Tex Walker slowing down and turning 31

Oliver Henry looks ok.. I wouldn’t be opposed to a medium forward who can pressure and is good at ground level and in the air
