As I have posted previously that I hate the state of the game this year more than last.
Can't watch a neutral game without losing it.
I hate seeing professional highly paid grown men around the pack jumping up and down arms flapping arms yelling at the umps to give them the kick.
It's a big part of the game now to sway the ump and it's every tackle now and every kick that into falls into space and the boundary is twenty metres away.
The deliberate out of bounce is just embarrassing for supporters of the game.
Now the VAFL has to fix the problem of two players jogging behind the ball which is heading out of bounce and either wants to pick up the ball and prefers to be the tackler. Happened several times yesterday.
The future will be 36 players around the ball just looking at the ball for the idiot to take possession.
And the umps are quite happy for players to just drop, throw, hand over the ball to a team mate when tackled.
Pay a free against the "umpires" on those teams, simple really, and like most other laws of the game, if enforced will see the behaviour eradicated by coaches.
The deliberate out of bounds rule has become a blight on the game. The benefit of doubt should be given to the player disposing of the footy, the AFFL has an obsession with speeding up the game, which is leading to more injuries, more stoppages and more spectator discontent.
AFFL, stop and take a breath, we have seen over the last 6 months that that is not a bad thing to do (unless you are standing alongside a covid carrier). Give the game itself a chance to evolve and it will do so, for every flood back coach, there is someone who believes scoring is the key to winning
Agree Alvin Purple.
I think they showed 6 contentious holding the ball decisions and I did notice that for each one, the Eagles were the benefactors.
And commentators say that it wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the game, but...... if all 6 decisions benefited Carlton, I think it would have.
I honestly think it deflates teams, its like a dropped catch in cricket. You can argue you have to better than that and you do have to do better. But its happening two or three times a quarter. It's Chinatown.

Well at least three decisions/non decisions, all holding the ball related resulted in slime goals-Ryan, Natanui and SPS. That makes a 4 point not 22 point margin.
