Sam P.S. is currently Googling the incorrect disposal rules! Two dodgy decisions, both ended up with WC goals, so when the ball came to him in defensive 50 he just knocked it on because he was too scared to grab it...resulting in a WC goal!

Its amazing how a game will flow with a bit of umpiring manipulation. Just my oordinary observation but did Carlton seem to notice this as well and lose a bit of their mojo.

Not to worry. Umps will balance the ledger against those bluddy cheats from WA at the next opportunity. I think they are playing again on Monday night....

I am amazed that so many can see how badly Carlton were treated by the umps, but bring up umpiring inequities after a Freo game, and you are howled down for blaming the umps for Freo's ineptitude.

Deep in the 3rd qtr - score was 41-20. Nic Nat blatant holding the ball 15 metres out in front of Carl goal..
Instead of 47-20 and almost game over, eagkes go forward and Kennedy kicks a goal to get some momentum back.
It happens at nearly every eagles home game..
as alluded, we will pay the penalty for this agst the Hawks to prove there is no WA bias..

It was absolutely clear watching the game that Carlton were umpired out of the contest , I'm not saying they would have won but they were clearly robbed of the chance.

Any idea how many spectators were at the game?
I've been looking on the awfl but this stat seems to be hidden for every game...

There were several holding the ball decisions, and mostly against indigenous players. I'm not saying there is any connection, but when things look like ducks and walk like ducks...

And I have no understanding of the holding the ball/incorrect disposal rule. There were numerous times when players were tackled and clung onto the ball for grim death. They were not trying to dispose of it, they were trying to hold onto it. Even worse was Yeo, who made several attempts to break tackles before giving up and going to ground firmly clinging to the ball - no problem, even though he was clearly trying to break the tackle, not dispose of the ball. Or the players who allow the ball to be jarred loose in the tackle - it seems to be a very fine line between "jarred loose" and "incorrect disposal".

All caused by Clarkson's comments. Would someone at the AFL please take control of this rule and fix it. At the very least, instruct umpires not to award 50m penalties when atrocious decisions are "robustly" questioned.

Umpiring does my head in.
I understand that mistakes can be made but why does it always seem to favour one team.
Watching Carlton v the Pets Coast was like watching a derby.
Discussed here at 2:50.

Expat, I heard that it was just under 20,00 at the game, not sure if that is correct though.

Oh, and it's not right that we get Margetts AGAIN, even though he hasn't been as bad lately as he has been in the past.

After yesterday's one way traffic, maybe Margetts is a better option? Just maybe though.

Margetts taught those 2 everything they know, CA, we will get the "correction" of the WA bias once again, and it will be justified by all and sundry in the AFFL and the media as a correct response by the umpires to said allegations of bias towards WA teams.
