I will leave the comments to the glass half empty types, but its a bit rough putting in a picture of Razor Ray.

I don't know. A rare image of Ray explaining to Jack Darling why a rare free kick was paid against him seems okay.

It’s not usually difficult to maintain consistency if the rules, criteria or standards stay the same.

What may help to improve the current basket case of weekly bizarre rulings is get a new head of umpiring or whatever they call the position that provides advice to the umpires.

A push in the back is a push, holding the ball is when you get it and are caught with it without proper disposal and a handball is not a throw back over your head with little or no contact with the ball.

You start allowing slight changes to rules and in five to ten years time you won’t be watching AFL football.

Was that a leprechaun making fun of Darling dropping the ball in front of goals again?

This comment explains everything;

In a deal struck with the AFL umpires' association, the league determined that it was too difficult to assess performance properly from a list management perspective given the disrupted nature of the season

If the League can not assess an umpires performance, when all umpires are supposed to be interpreting the rules from the same laws of the game rule book, they are not competent to be running the game. Ditto for umpires and their performances.

The other worrying indication is that the League is doing deals with people in the game. Have they also done a deal with Adam Simpson? or GWS? or Brisbane Lions?

I am seriously not continuing being a follower of Aussie Rules.
Games of footy is russian roulette if you are first to the ball and god help you if you place a hand on it.
Never was happy that three op players can jump on a player who looked at the ball hold the ball to him and it's a kick against. ( brought in by Hawthorn, same as that blocking the man on the mark crap )
The umps should pay a kick against third player either side who piles on a pack to hold the ball in.
I feel i am watching forward pass Rugby this year.
Don't blame the umps as they are confused as I am.
My coaches through out my 25 years playing days inforced "the umps will look after you if your first to the ball".
Aussies Rules is over umpired with toss a coin rules.
