It’s a long time since I played, I wasn’t very good and I wasn’t very big. I played in a forward pocket one of my jobs was to drag my player out of the way of the proper forwards. The job of the players up the field was to kick it to the proper forwards not me.
I like Brandon because he has good footy smarts and can pop up to bag a couple of goals when needed. He won’t always get the chocolates every week but what he does can bring others into the game. He set up a couple of goals on the weekend and forced a few turnovers with his chasing and tackling.
We'd all love Brandon to be successful. Its a hard game AFL footy....and its not easy to be successful at it unless you are 'one if the superstars'.
I may be wrong...by when he was first drafted, I'm sure his 'go 'was wing/ centre, rather than 'a crumbing forward pocket' (like his nearest uncle).
So he's (maybe I'm wrong), sort of playing out of position...much like MDB or Banfield' I guess.
Unfortunately he hasn't got the size or speed to cut it in the modern midfield, and he's had to carve out a career in the forward line....somewhere.
I just get concerned that he 'doesn't bob up enough'
And I guess i feel that implies he's not putting in 4 q efforts. If I saw a ''manic B. Matera' (ie think Ballatyne) every time the ball is in his area, I'd probably appreciate him more. Just don't get to see that...
Just feel a bloke with his skills and experience could influence games a while lot more than he does.
