TOPIC: Sunday game or gardening?

Noddy Sunday game or gardening? 1 week 1 day ago #15

You never know when it may be the last time you see Mundy play either and get to applaud his brilliance first hand.

The way he cleared our half back line last week was like ....here’s how it’s done ....a one handed gather while weaving through traffic....it was the best play of the day.

Raglan Matt
I don't know why everyone is carrying on about Mondays game. It was wet weather footy, played by a side which does not get those conditions at training week in week out, against a side who does. When East Coast teams come to Perth in March/April or at the end of the season, excuses are made (by some pundits) with regularity about how those teams find it difficult to cope with the hot conditions in Perth. The same applies in reverse.

I’m missing the Monday games as too hard to get there after work. But I’m there for Sunday with bells on. Go Dockers give those pies a hiding.

Carlton play Hawthorn today at 3:40pm at Optus Stadium. In the history of football has there ever been a VFL/WAFL/SANFL/AFL game scheduled for 3:40pm on a working day?

probably not but Freo’s first AFLW win was even earlier:
Round 6 - 2017
Friday, 10 March (3:05 pm)
Fremantle 6.7 (43) def. Carlton 4.3 (27)

It5's on at 5:40 in the target audience time zone. Gillon probably believes TV has not arrived in WA yet.

All Gill knows is that if there are tvs in WA Kerry Stokes is the one that turns them on.

And just like the days at the WACA, you knew that we weren't a great side, but sometimes the magic would happen and we'd get a win.

The biggest difference between now and then is that when I watch the boys out there now I don't see 22 players giving their all. I know I bang on about skills, but I'd be just as happy to see a bunch of guys ready to bleed purple run amok and create mayhem on the field.*

*I'd be happier if they gave their all AND had some skills to back it up**

**AND if they occasionally won a few games***

***AND if half the team wasn't injured every week****

****AND if they served a half decent beer at the oval*****

*****Etc etc as nauseam

Looking forward to seeing Fyfe & Blakely back.

Not looking forward to a footy game with soccer scores.

I'm in Raglan's camp. I don't really understand the fuss about the loss last week in horrible conditions with a side full of kids and injuries. Shortened quarters make the stats look worse than they are but I really enjoyed watching Serong, Brayshaw and Cerra getting their hands dirty and fighting it out despite being much smaller than their opponents.

The conditions shouldn't be that bad tomorrow and we're a good chance at having some more kids in the side giving it a go and trying to learn how to make it in the big leagues. Wins and losses make little difference to anything other than our draft pick this year, enjoy the ride and the revolution from RL footy. This season is about learning.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Got my ticket but only because I looked at the weather forecast. Hail. With the chance of a thunderstorm. So where better to get pelted with little frozen pebbles than at Optus Oval watching my team get pelted with goals : D
