TOPIC: Sunday game or gardening?

FD1016 Sunday game or gardening? 3 years 8 months ago #1

Does anyone have any real, genuine incentives to encourage me to go to the game on Sunday rather than staying at home to do some gardening or hang out with family/friends?
Before anyone gets narky, I’m one of those who stood under the cricket scoreboard and the WACA getting drenched so don’t accuse me of not being a true supporter. However, I’m struggling to get enthusiastic about this one and for that, I apologise. Help please.

The WACA days were long ago, I stood there too.

Go to the game and watch them all. The old guy Mundy trying his guts out to inspire the younger ones, Darcy against the older Grundy, Tabs seemingly finally asserting himself around the ground taking a few big grabs and kicking goals when he’s not tripping over his boot laces, Brayshaw, Cerra, Duman, Watson, Serong et al all young and up coming .....you never know we may win.

Is a half hearted supporter like a half hearted player when the chips are down?

...and maybe if both in we may see Cox v Cox! Wonder what comments Cometti would have come up with on that one.

Yeh demo, worst attempt this week, previous two weeks got what i wanted 15 mins the first week ,and first go last week.
This time right from the get go,error ,error error ,must be all the pies members trying to get in.
Even when i got the first tickets which i was happy with ,went to claim them and error ,check your t/master account to see if they are there ,up GRRRRRR
Finally after 55 mins got something reasonable.
So blame it on Collingwood. There obviously has not been as much traffic before the previous weeks games .

This probably sounds twee, but the thing about a football game is you never know what’s going to happen. Odds are against Sunday being memorable, but you never know. Is it worth sitting through the occasional floggings and dire stretches for those moments of brilliance or thrilling games? If you were being rational probably not, but if you’re a Freo fan after all this time then you’ve probably abandoned rationality some time ago.

I find it helps if you structure the day around going to the pub beforehand. A good long lunch, a few pints, and you can use the footy game to rehydrate drinking mid-strength while watching the game (the new Gage Roads Pipe Dreams is basically water).

The gardening can always wait until the finals when Freo fans will have plenty of time.

FD1016, it depends on the state of the weeds. If they're visible, I'd be going to the game.

Was it a full house (30,000 or whatever it is) against Geelong? It will be interesting to see what footy looks like on the other side of covid for memberships, not just at Freo. I would imagine there is a little bit of worry amongst clubs that some fans just don’t come back as members.

You should go 1016, you don’t know how many more games there’ll be before they decide to send us back to qld. Look at it this way, it can’t be worse than the Geelong game was.
