Well the press is he is to be approached to mentor Jl.
There will be many here who will call for someone's head if this happens.
The other problem will be if they can fit him in the new soft cap?
Hase reckons it will be a great move ,I'm not convinced ,i see JL as his own man and quite capable of leading this team .

Please don’t tell me we sacked a coach and copped his salary, only to employ somebody that can’t do the job by himself.

Is he taking over from the rowing coach?

Based on the evidence of last night's game, I'd say match-day coaching isn't the problem so much as the quality and depth of the squad. How would Woosha or any other "experienced" mentor change that? The problems this season are a direct legacy of years of inadequacy in all aspects of club management - that is, from CEO to coaching staff, and all associated support roles, especially medical and fitness. Thankfully, the clear-out seems to be underway, but there's a long way to go.

From what I’ve seen JLo would need some mentoring

Totally disagree. Let him have his head. It would be tough enough reversing out of the shadow of bloody Ross Lyon. Despite the losses I have enjoyed what we have fashioned this year just about more than anything since the hide tide mark of the PF v Sydney in'13.

Plus I thought we were watching dollars.

A coaching mentor for JLo is really important. It’s a pretty unique job, so there is a limited number of people who would really understand the stress of being a Head Coach, and the mentors - and now peers - JLo might otherwise turn to for guidance (like Simpson and Buckley) are the competition. Unlike some other clubs there are no former Head Coaches on our coaching panel, in our footy department or our admin or board.

I’ve never really rated Worsfold as a coach, but he’s managed to do it for a long time which speaks to some resilience and balance in his life, which I think is important to instil in a rookie Head Coach. I can’t imagine the conversations will stray too much into tactics and the like, but I think it will be good for JLo to have a sounding board even if the advice isn’t too deep.

Unless JLo starts asking how do deal with a drug culture at Freo, I can only see a benefit to this arrangement.

It's not a bad idea, especially with the millions to be slashed from the football department soft salary cap. We'd get a mentor and a ready-made compounding pharmacist all in one.

Why would we want an ex-coach who was incapable of seeing half his team was high all the time?

I think a mentor is a good idea for a young head coach, not sure if Worsfold is the right bloke for us or JLo.
You want someone contemporary and experienced I just think Worsfold comes with too much baggage.

Problem is I cant think of any other better options. Guys like Sheedy, Parkin and Matthews are too long out of the game. Malthouse may be too weird Perhaps Pagan, he and Belly worked together maybe Pagan can be his mentor he managed some tough times at the Roos and Carlton and won a couple of flags.

Nothing against the bloke, but he played for, captained and ended up coaching That Other Mob - to me that ends any consideration three times over.

The way Malthouse bangs on about how impressive J-Lo is, I suspect he might already be mentoring him.

I'd put Woosha im charge of Weber. & his department.....and tell him to 'shape up'.

This year seems to be another miserable one for the Dockers. Since finishing 1st in 2015 after the home and away season was over the Dockers have been constantly in the bottom half of the ladder, that is, 16th, 14th,14th,and 13th last year. Justin Longmuir can't do it alone. Surely bringing in Woosha in some capacity can't make things worse.

Im giving JLO time but Im having my first doubt on him after last night and agst Port in the wet too.
At half time his response was that we had lost our forward structure. well no sh--, along with the rest of our structures.
Blind Freddy could see it was a night where normal structure wasnt going to cut it.
How many times did we just soccer it forward, go long down the middle or take the longer option - zero!
We are a dumb football team from the top down. Tabs last week, Ryans effort on the goal line last night.
I was expecting it to change after half time after the horse had bolted but still no. We handballed backwards and kept giving up ground from our skill errors rather than going long.
The scary thing is we were still a chance in the last qtr having kicked one goal. Thats how bad Geelong were.
What about horses for courses - If the Owl and Connor B couldnt get a game last night then they never will. I can assure you Crowden would have broken all tackle records last night. Instead we have guys like Banfield & Matera letting players break tackles - It will be an embarassing review for those blokes..
Aish & Tabs 0 Tackles, Bewley & Duman 1 tackle..
Cerra - 9, Brayshaw - 8 and Serong - 7 is the future.
Dont give me structures in the wet - give me single minded focus instead
