You have to love Schultz's pressure, but as a small forward his first requirement is to kick goals. Once the ball hit the ground in our forward line yesterday it was run out with ease, so the pressure wasn't there either.
Banfield has won two F&B's playing as a midfielder, but unfortunately he is following the well worn Freo path to oblivion as the defensive half forward.
Colyer i just don't get. He rarely gets more than 10 disposals, is in his late 20s but is quick. So?
Blakely as mentioned before has the second biggest disposal average in our squad. Serong is struggling to get the ball too often at this stage, but certainly shows glimpses, and is part of the future. With Fyfe out, Walters is being asked to do too much as a midfielder, Tucker had a shocker yesterday and we had nobody with more than 20 disposals. In fact our leading ball winner was a backman-Ryan.
I don't buy the he has to work on his disposal thing. It's not like he's an orphan there. He should be playing a role in there to support our younger kids.
And as for McCarthy, is it his lack of pressure that's stopping him from getting a game? We really only had two forwards yeasterday, Lobb and Tabener. Oh and a great little debut from Roy. Not sure it's the role of the bigger forward to apply all the pressure anyway. Hogan gives little to none and is a walk up start when fit.
