Grundy pushing forward, is taken by our ruckman, as for the rest, there is no 12-15cm mismatch as seen in earlier games, sure, Stehpenson & Mihochek may be a couple of cm's taller, but my point was the lack of a real mismatch in height. That makes quite a big difference to how the backline has to match up, & set up, with players able to be ready to release the footy rather than assist the player in the marking contest to spoil the mark, or block space further back.
Usually I agree with you RM but on this occasion Ryan did have to contest against Cameron a couple of times, either as third man up or 1:1 when Cameron lost Cox in traffic. 204cm to 186cm is an 18cm difference, I think you are down playing how well Ryan played on the weekend.
I really like the three underated defenders (by other clubs) Watson ,Duman and Hughes , those three know when to punch, mark and tackle hard and rarely get beaten by their opponents. Hughes has pushed his way into the team and has become a permanent part of our best 22, Duman looks to be followng the same path as Hughes and Watson looks like he could snap in half but is as tough as nails.
Also Cox and Ryan are best mates, I really think by playing them together in the back line we'll see the best out of Cox because Ryan can rev him up down there, Ryan is already an A grade AFL player , I hope we keep him as a one club player .
Wilson looks like he's getting fitter and back to his better form, seems to have shaken off his foot injury.
I know it's been rough that we've lost three of our best defenders this year but it may have been an opportunity in disquise, these blokes could become one of the best bunch of defenders in the AFL .

Sorry, PK, I was in no way downplaying Ryan's performance, he continues to shine, my point is that the defense as a unit, had less of a mismatch, allowing them to be a bit more attacking, which was a great part in our win. Your shorter defenders are always gunna cop a Cameron/Ryan matchup at times in a game when a forward gives his defender the slip.
