Last weekend when all was lost and only a few minutes left, I focussed on which Fremantle players looked like they hadn't conceded and were doing everything possible to win. The one player that stood out was Shultz, by a country mile.

Admitedly that surprised me, but it said a lot about character. No matter what area needs filling this week or what his stats are, Shultz would be a starter for me.

I like Shultz also - he is your typical r Lyon soldier. Works hard and gives his all. But he absolutely crucified us last week with his turnovers from halfback in that last qtr. I counted 3 times where he kicked it straight to an outnumbered contest where our player was out marked in the last qtr. he also missed a crucial handball in that last qtr. none of his turnovers were due to being tacked or not in space. And their lies his problem and why blakely has been made to wait. I am not sure just being a try hard is enough any more. Deboer was a try hard and also did not have elite skills. But he played to his strengths and understood his weaknesses.

The selectors see Sturt as a clever half-forward who is good overhead and can win ground ball - more than one string to his bow. Matera, not so. Pleased with the selection.
