Without going the full Mick, it's an interesting question. Fyfe is 29 this year, so maybe two years left before the decline really kicks in. If we're not a better team without him now, we've got two years to bring through the next generation so that we will be.

Sadly, I recall this type of conversation about Pav, and we've never recovered our consistent forward scoring potential after Pav started to fade late in his career. I put it down to not managing to draft or develop a strong forward coming through the ranks. It would be good to avoid a repeat of this and have someone ready to step into Fyfes shoes.

The larger question would be whether the team down at Cockburn HQ think that we'll win a premiership in the next 2-4 years, if not, may as well blood the young ones at a faster rate than we're doing at the moment.

The short answer is no. The long answer is also no.

Having said that, a lack of Fyfe for a couple of weeks may well help the development of some of the young guns.

Who will fill the man bun role? We can't possibly be manbunless.

Fyfe is our savior post Pav, but who's next?
Fyfe, and Freo, needs a Fantastic Four, but who's joining Fyfe & Walters in the Freo Fantastic Four?

Yeah, time moves quickly. It won't be long before we're asking if we're a better team without Crowden.

What concerns me is I doubt our recruiting team has even considered life after Crowden. I look through our list and see no obvious replacement coming through. Shameful really.

Pffft, Fyfe and Walters should start sucking up to Sturt, Young, Serong, Henry, Cerra and Brayshaw now so they might take pity on the old guys and let them hang out in a forward pocket while they get carried to back-to-back premierships in 2022/23.

I realise the instinct might be to make Brayshaw captain for the premiership run, but I’ve always liked the idea of a captain who could stand in the middle of a huddle and eyeball each and every player without moving their body, so I’d probably give Crowden a crack.

Its like asking if A Country Practice was a better show after Molly died?
Was ACDC a better band after Bon?

An emphatic NO.

Considering Freo's results on the Gold Coast so far, it could be concluded that 'no Crowden, no Freo'. But there's not too many Dockerlanders who would agree with that opinion.

Yes, if the Chicago Bulls would have been better without Michael Jordan.
