The Dockers let Harley down shamefully. He deserved better from his home town team.

I really, really hope he can string a decent run of games together for Melbourne.

Dockermus that’s a load of carp! Conspiracy theories tend to be expounded by rock heads. Freo gave it their best shot, helped the guy relocate back West and gave him every chance. Good luck to Melbourne and Harley but don’t dump on the people who were giving him every chance.

That's not what a conspiracy theory is.

Bennell could always run basic training out. Wait until he's under the pump of a game were he's needing to get out of the comfort zone. Good luck to him.

I wish Bennell the best of luck. He needs more than his share of it.

Meanwhile, for all the injured souls down at cockburn central, meet the new boss, same as the old boss...

If Harley has a sense of humour, when he’s asked about the secret in getting his body right, I’d like him to say “nah nothing really, I just watched a couple of those wellness videos from the Freo website during the lockdown”

Just remember....that for the last 8 yrs or so...any of our injured / rehabilitating, or, up & coming playrs, were faced with the prospect of " a fair chunk of games for Peel' no matter how well they performed, before they were even a chance of coming up to 1's.

Even though the ones were gettiing belted most weeks, or were carrying some 'underperformers'.

Can't imagine how demoralising that was for many of them. And don't think the state of mind doesn't influence recovery time.

There was too much of that going on in the past 8 years, and about the only bit I agreed with was when they kept Tabs down in the 2's for an extended period.

The 'hope' of many others (''Nyhuis, Collins ..maybe North ...to name but a few) ' had to have been seriously dented.

Harley was looking at 7 or 8 games in the 2's each time, whereas Melbourne see to have a 'lets give this guy a chance' attitude'.

We'll soon find out which way brings the better result, but Melbourne's way is the only way we'll all get to see this bloke on an AFL footy field....

Couldn’t agree more. Former coach/club policies, and the time-proven inadequacies of Freo’s medical/rehab staff have been drawn into sharp focus by Melbourne’s stunning work with Harley. The Dockers don’t seem to be good enough in these areas.

While I want Harley to succeed and, as mentioned in my earlier post, I will be first in line to bag the club medicos if he does, we do need to make our disappointments subject to Harley playing a few games first. If he pulls up in the third quarter this week we will need to reassess our opinions

www.sen.com.au/news/2020/06/11/what-kept...oming-back-to-footy/

Bennell has been plagued by calf injuries throughout his career with the Gold Coast Suns and Dockers but successful surgeries, plenty of hard work and the support of those around him have enabled him a third crack in the AFL.

So what kept Bennell coming back?

The culture of the footy club, and Harley's behaviour at times, under the ex-coach has to be a contributing factor in why he couldn't get on the park with us.

Gee it's saying something isn't it if Melbourne are outdoing us in that department.

I reckon Fremantle got him to this point a number of times but they think differently about when a player is ready to play a game of football.

Certainly one that doesn't need to leave the 50 metre line very often to be extremely effective.

No-one thought Harley Bennell needed to be Tom Scully.

Other than Fremantle.
